Love Poem: Sister

Sister

Some years ago, a man and wife,
 Tried for a family.
They tried in vain, and then one day came a child,
That child was me.

Their life had now been made complete,
They were happy, they were glad.
No longer just a man and wife,
But now my mum and dad.

They tried for more; of this I’m sure,
But there never was another.
So the one thing that I never had,
Was a sister or a brother.

Now I’ve grown up and married well,
Sometimes though I did falter.
Forgetting some of the things I said,
When I was at the alter.

But you were there to talk to me,
And help me right my life.
For now I’m where I want to be,
With Marie my precious wife.

When my mum died you were my rock,
And this I won’t forget.
You were also there when dad died too,
I’m forever in your debt.

So Margaret this is just for you,
A poem in a letter.
If god had let me choose a sister,
I couldn’t have chosen one better.
