Love Poem: Simple Things

Simple Things

Our relationship remains ever so grand,
You keep my heart under gentle command,
As we pass through our days hand in hand.

The simplest moments bring greatest pleasure,
Their meaning to me impossible to measure,
Time spent with you my undeniable treasure.

I awaken each day with a stretch and a yawn,
Anxious for a kiss to greet the bright dawn,
Sorrowful that soon from your side I’ll be gone.

While hard at work its for you I yearn,
Desirous fires within hotly burn,
As I struggle my livelihood to earn.

At long day’s end I hasten home fleeting fast,
To rush headlong into your enveloping arms at last,
Comforted to know our time of separation has passed.

Together we share our evening meal,
Whether sad or filled with happy zeal,
Free to openly express how we feel.

In cuddly moments it is clear my sweet,
With you in it my life is now complete,
Our solid union none shall ever defeat.

By the darkness of night I know there’s nothing to fear,
As you cradle me tight in your arms holding me ever near,
All the while whispering sweet love words in my ear.

The way you offer undying protection,
Along with the warmest deepest affection,
Your loyalty to me escapes not detection.

It’s not a gilded ring that keeps our connection sound,
Nor lavish gifts or daring acts of bravery profound,
It’s the security I feel just having you always around.
