Simple Things

After two short years...she's called it quits...
she said it was my drinkin...
I said " really dear I'll gladly stop...
I'm honest as ole Lincoln."

She said...talk is cheap...I've heard enough...
my heart is full of doubt.
To watch you waste away is tough...
but I'd still like to work things out.

She threw me out...then locked the door
and pulled down all the shades.
I turned my back and that was that...
then drove on down the road.

She said...talk is cheap...I've heard enough...
my heart is full of doubt.
To watch you waste away is tough...
but I'd still like to work things out.

With tires a squealing...my head still reelin...
I finally got to town.
Stopped right in to Joe's Bar and Grill
saying " Boy's next round's on me."

She said...talk is cheap...I've heard enough...
my heart is full of doubt.
To watch you waste away is tough...
but I'd still like to work things out.

As I sat there drinkin...I really started thinkin...
then lit me up a smoke...
thinking about your tender kiss and the love that I'd be missin.
I left the bar...have not returned...
became a wiser man. Now I find my joy you see...
in just walking hand in hand.
