Love Poem: Silhouettes In Moonlight

Silhouettes In Moonlight

Musical rainbeats
Harmonize upon the roof
Static on the radio
A love song, a love dance

Our feet slide in step
There is the heat of
Your hands on my waist
The nearness of your face
Your amber eyes radiate gold
And I don't know where to look-

I think about another
I said "Forever" to
Our forever did not
survive two summers
I wonder if I can ever believe
In forever, again

Silence too potent
We untangle, unlock
"Thank you for the pleasure of your company,"
You say, in your winsome, gentlemanly way

"You don't have to go; this was all I wanted,"
I almost say - but don't
Because it wasn't all I wanted

In my memory, we are
silhouettes in moonlight.
