Should There Be a Tear
Should there be a tear that makes its way
to kiss my cheek
it falls for only gratitude as I recall the year.
Despite the wretched anguish, which has shadowed
our domain,
the sun is lifting spirits, as it clears away this plaque.
So blessed am I, that those with me, the loves which
brought me life
and those whose friendship fills my world with
kindness everyday,
have made it through this torment,
set to see another year.
And so, Thanksgiving takes its place again,
inside my heart
to share with those around me still, for whom
I write these words.
