Shadows Still Need the Sun
Your zest for life first caught my eye;
I found you truthful, wild, and free.
For you had no intent to lie,
an innocence that intrigued me.
You were a fledgling soul on wing;
sparkling with exuberant light.
And you melted my heart like Spring,
a warm, unexpected delight.
Building our dreams on trust and hope,
I felt my fortunes start to shift.
And for the first time, I could cope;
while fear and doubt were cast adrift.
Eyes open, you taught me to look,
and that shadows still need the sun.
And you gave me more than you took
as our souls melded into one.
