Love Poem: Shadows In the Night

Shadows In the Night

We are the juveniles of the night
Returning again and again to familiar places
Consuming the liquid of courage
We are a crowded room full of familiar faces

In the day we dwell among the believers
Although our faces are casting unfamiliar shadows
Shadows of demons and troubles unfathomable
We drag through the day until we are free yet again
Free to breathe among peers
Those who celebrate each others pain
We all have something to lose and something to gain

Do not see through our smiles
We live in our sorrows
Drowning in a sea of troubles
We live for better tomorrows

Maybe this weekend will be great
Maybe this work week will be alright
Regardless, let's all gather together
And let's all get drunk tonight

One drink for you
And two drinks for me
Let's all create a world of our own
And drink to be free

Free of the frustrations
Free of the feelings all too old
One more drink
And let's forget what we have all been told

"It is going to be okay"
A simple phrase that's been spoken
But time has passed
And I have yet to be awoken

Still asleep waiting for someone to wake me up
Still sleeping till the pain passes
Let's drink another four or five
And tell all our exes to kiss our asses

Lost loved ones growing in number
We all live in a losing game
I lost another yesterday
And slowly forgetting her name

One more drink until I hit the floor
One more drink till the pain is gone
One more drink till I am unconscious
One more drink till I move on
