Separate Pathways

Separate Pathways

If you want to fill your heart with hate;
If you want to bicker, argue, and debate.
That's your prerogative if you're so inclined;
To be intolerant and asinine.

You may spew venom and vile;
Choose to be aggressive and hostile.
That's on you and your karma's deal;
But you don't get to tell me how to feel.

I will fill my heart with adoration;
Let love be my greatest aspiration.
I will allow myself to walk in another's shoes;
And listen to understand rather than misconstrue.

I'm not here to change another being;
I am here to live a life with meaning.
Your path is your's alone to walk;
The journey will be your responsibility or fault.

I'm not your judge, you're not my preacher;
I am not my brother's keeper.
If sometime our paths should meet;
Let our exchange be obsolete.

Go your way and I shall go mine;
Our lives need not intertwine.
May you live the way you see best;
For I am on my own life's quest.
