Love Poem: Searching

Searching

The lonely one, once again seeks one to hold his heart, A real treasure, so rare, he knows not where to start. So many past failures, he now seeks the best, To aid in closing the void within his chest. Many treasures may meet his criteria, but careful he is in decision, As many gifts while wrapped, will seem to meet his description. To ascertain what is within, too much to ask of any man, Outwardly, she may display the traits of the graceful swan, Yet in reality, she is but a rough amphibian. Lust, deceit, pretense, he has been struck by all before, But now his heightened discernment ability, renewed at the heartbreak store. Confidence he now has in obtaining his other half, As he thinks he now sees a cow for a cow, and a calf for a calf. - Michael Shane Brown
