Love Poem: Scar
Janet Lorenzo Avatar

Scar

It’s a dark place
Crowded with wondering
Stretching is a reminder of the boundaries that confine
Hungry, I feed on my own essence, born of another’s crux
Tentatively I reach, feeling for an exit
Knowing the answer is just there
In the light place
When first I crawled from the tomb
That held the most vital parts of me
A fledgling, I spread my wings to fly
You decorated yourself with the resulting scar
That scar you smeared across so many pages of your life
In my dream
I cover that scar of yours with earth and plant a kiss
The dirt I lick from my lips is sweet
