Love Poem: Saudade

Saudade

It seemed so easy to love you-
Effortless to touch such perfect
Skin that I thought longed for me.
In the gentleness of the night you
Left and I was forsaken and
Abandoned without reason.

It seemed so easy for you to love me-
Undemanding in every single way.
In the calm of the storm you chose
To leave without warning nor cause.
Bestowing sorrow onto my heart
with such ease.

I was naive.

Now I am left with the craving for
You to satisfy my appetite for your kiss.
Thirsty for the hope you long for me too-
You know, like you used to.

For I am but a lone doe lost in the
Wilderness of abdicated relinquishment.
My hunger is astounding as I am
Hankering with nostalgia of how we
Once were when we were what we were.
And we were in love, my sweet.

Forgive me for desiring your sweetness,
Atone me for my greed for completeness.

Pining over all the magnificent memories
Of us walking along the shore,
Hand in hand with bare feet in the sand.
I aspire to embrace your eagerness-
Have appetence for the faith you yearn
For me to open the threshold to my
Weakness-
And that weakness is you, my love.

I have tried so hard to surrender,
Attempted with all that I am to ease
This fever I call you-

For your love is my forever dwelling…
And I am left homesick for you.
