Love Poem: Saturday Night / Sunday Morning

Saturday Night / Sunday Morning

A cold night and bitterly dim
Behold the stars, but never hold them
A solitary drive at 3AM
Even the bar flies have settled in

The engine gasps and laughs at me
You are lonely, you're so lonely
Ghosts are rising from sewer wells
The ice has frozen the tower bells

A mile away my cellphone rings
Assured and disturbed, a little foundling
The candle still burns beside your bed
"MISS U" the only words to be read

A minor comfort to fight my fatigue
But also more fuel for tiresome intrigue
The moon so clearly cast above
The sweetest pains endured for love
