Sanctuary

Spreading Love...

He sits quietly, fighting the disease,
Loneliness – it never leaves,
Seems to whisper to him, through the leaves,
Autumn’s shell revealing his tale…

Loneliness, aching to remember,
Where has love been?
His mind aches, then trembles.
Burning with a hope, a dream, just an ember
Feelings enslaved by the weakest gentle,
The flames of a fire, burning
With his memories…

He sits quietly, in unrest, in loneliness,
Making time, taking time
For this, her final round with defeat,
Where she bleeds victory into soundless nights,
When she retreats – his silence sweet,
Through a lonely dream, she bleeds defeat,
Defeat and he never leaves…

Lonely, like the stillness of a fear,
Breaking through the darkness, shadow
Blaming the night, but it knows – it shows,
Where she grieves, where she leaves,
His heart, on the floor as she opens that door,
To yesterday, where his love can restore…

The broken pieces, the defeated
The grieving – they’re all still believing –
It is God’s love they’re needing.
It is God’s love they’re breathing…
When darkness dies and light invites
Those who believe – into the heart of peace,
Where he will agree…

There is no dark, no doubt, no dread,
That can overcome what love has done,
When He gave us His love, He gave us a Son,
Who could overcome all the lonely that fear had spun,
He who overcomes… He is spreading the love,
That only God above could have shown…

Only God can see through the dark,
Into the light that is the blood,
Of His beloved – the Son who still spreads His love!
