Love Poem: Same Mistake Twice

Same Mistake Twice

You vowed it wasn't gonna happen again,
but it did
You said you wasn't gonna make
the same mistake twice
But you scraped your heart once more,
didn't you kid
Fell to the ground, toppled
by another pretty set of eyes
That woman reached inside your chest,
and took your heart by surprise
Turned you out with narcotic seduction,
a syringe full of sweet, beautiful lies
You fell in love with the wrong person again,
and as you start slipping,
you know very well what's happening
It's the same mistake twice,
sum it up as the story of your life
But you took it a step further this time ...
you asked her to be your wife
And you ain't man enough to back out of the deal,
now that she's sitting behind the steering wheel
Crash dummies get taken to the cleaners;
she's tucking in the tummy,
as your pockets are getting leaner
It's the same mistake,
made over again and again
Deja vu keeps repeating
Making the same mistake more than twice,
it's the story of your sorry life
Losers are born
to live the lie they choose
Prisoners of obsession
are condemned
to singing the chain gang blues
