Love Poem: Rifting the Divide

Rifting the Divide

Leagues of water
separate us
    and with a thought
she feels my touch.
With a push
   of her consciousness
I feel her
   curl up
into my back,
  sending the shiver
down my spine
that you all know so well
    when your lover
      snuggles up to you
as you settle down
for night’s rest.

Half awake
I extend my arm
and caress her neck,
I feel her
   gently touch my eyelids
and her groan rides on the clouds
causing my throat
  to vibrate
    as I growl
my intentions upon the moon
so she can read them
              at her whim,
and so others can be inspired.

Its another day
and the sun sinks
behind my back.
I feel my skin come alive
as I recharge myself
from the ever present
mother of the night.
I speak into the wind,
    sending my emotion
to the shade of my heart,
  “ This distance,
   this disillusion,
I cling to memories
   as your presence
             builds within me.
Sleep brings release,
   drawing us closer,
as I stare at your eyes
     riding on the moon.”

In the still of the night
    she rests her head
on my shoulder
  and I smack my lips
in anticipation
for when she’s actually there,
but for now,
    until I can move continents
what will be will be,
   and
I’ve never felt happiness’s caress before
the way it sparks upon my soul now.
