Rhymes For My Friend
I wrote this little poem for you.
It’s as simple and plain as my heart.
Everything I included is true
Though it isn’t any work of art.
So take it and hold close to your chest,
But be gentle for it’s fearful
Like a bird which looks for a safe nest.
Please let it be at last cheerful.
If you wait for an explanation,
Don’t waste your time because it’s a must,
I couldn’t resist this temptation,
You will appreciate it, I trust.
Let it be my greeting for every day,
Or a word of comfort if you are sad,
Find it when your afternoons become grey.
Take it for it was everything I had
To tell you about my devotion
To give you a little, modest sign,
To show you the pure emotion.
Now this poem is yours, it’s not mine.
