Love Poem: Rewarding

Rewarding

I saw a hawk flying high,
wings spread across the sky.
Suddenly that lengthy glance,
lost all it's magical romance.
The bright, shining, hot sun,
chased away all of my fun.
Watching the bird flying free,
I was dreaming that it was me.

Back to the reality at hand,
no work and I will be canned.
For a fleeting moment I forgot,
the beating sun was so hot.
Sweat bleeding from every pore,
never knowing what's in store.
Finally my work day is through,
there is only one thing left to do.

It's evening and I slither home.
I soon realize I'm not alone.
Roasting aromas fill the air,
voices shout out with care.
I battled through my daily storm,
now inside I feel safe and warm.
I secretly thank the Gods above,
I'm surrounded by so much love.
