Love Poem: Retrospection

Retrospection

On you, it was my heart that was set.
And I knew, I was in love with you,
Before the first time, we had ever met.

But to you, no more, could I possibly,
See a way, to give.
Once I began to die from a broken heart,
When for me, in return, you couldn’t live.

So I was left with memories,
Soft and tender that were shared.
As I was left, to feel you … to touch you,
Even though, you were no longer here … But there.

And your face, was the only image,
The eyes within my mind were left to see.
And slow dancing, in your spirit, was the only
Place, I had always wished I could be.

I had lived to feel upon my cheek,
The touch of your hand
That would make feel, as if, I had already reached,
The promised land.

You were the excitement from the arousal,
Giving birth to all of my ecstasies.

The nectar in all the dreams, lounging around, inside
Of my fantasies.

But I became so intoxicated from the injection
Of sadness, that flew through my every vein. From never
Knowing, if, you had ever really meant, to cause me all of that pain.

But no answer, from your lips, was there, a reply
And I haven’t been taught, the lesson, in how to kiss,
What we had …goodbye.

So…

I am left with the memories,
Soft and tender that were shared.

I am left, to feel you … to touch you.
Even though, you are no longer here … But there.
