Love Poem: Restless Mind

Restless Mind

This longing I have, this desire so true
Yet an empty pit that gnaws and grows
My love, my pain, my light, my fire
I have not much but my soul to give
Vulnerable, desperate, frustrated, pleading;
Turning, rolling, tumbling, screaming
Even in sleep I cannot escape the truth
That pushes me into familiar depths
Desolate, cold, alone, unloved
I turn towards you, but you turn away
I step closer, and you fade away;
Cruel illusions of a restless mind
Distorted,
Plagued with desire and pride;
I placed my heart in your hands
But it fell,
Twisted, shattered in tears of blood;
Step on it if it cannot be mended;
End this hope, this pain;
Return what once was mine.
