Reporting On the Land of Lincoln

This is Adey Square reporting live on Soup
Standing on John Hancock center to leap and loop;
Having stunning views in north central United States,
In a splendid state where you can’t find empty plates.

Illinois was once a plain filled with prairie grasses,
But all you can see now are buildings with gorgeous glasses;
On the west, it’s flanked by the mighty Mississippi river,
And on the northeast, you will find the lovely Lake Michigan.

It was gathered that Illinois’ balloon was blown by Lincoln,
No wonder the official state slogan is the Land of Lincoln;
This is evident as tourists throng the Lincoln’s tomb site
While some are visiting the Cahokia courthouse site.

Since Illinois entered the union in 1818 as the 21st state
She has got more glamor... now the fifth most populous state;
You will wonder as you walk down the city of Chicago,
The sporting fields in Springfield will never let you go.

The Chicago blues festival: a celebration of sights and sound
In a state where the world’s best blues performers can be found;
Taste of Chicago is around the corner, for those who love fun
All year round, there are festivals that will make you roll and run.

Illinois is peaceful, pleasant, poetic and politically powerful
It has produced politician and US presidents who’re purposeful
Both citizens and visitors are free to pray and play everyday;
For poets; you would love to visit the home of poet Vachel Lindsay.
