Love Poem: Remembrance

Remembrance

In the distance sounds of happiness ring
as a nighttime star guides so many home
echoes of those times have slipped away
leaving remembrance of our once last kiss

Lips chapped and cracked
lost a thousand years
that honeysuckle taste of ecstasy
has up and ran off
and my memories are fading too

I long for the days where heartbeats filled this soul
where new days were an adventure
and that good morning smile made me whole

Life why have you stopped for me
as I watch the others go
why do you still torture me
and leave me feeling low
