Love Poem: Remember

Remember

Remember our last winter,
The last moment together.
In the backyard woods,
Our last snowfall together.

Remember two years ago,
Late night events still running through my mind.
My hand held in yours to keep warm,
Still sends shivers down my spine.

But go back in time,
Now four years back.
Still in those woods,
Not a care in the world.

You tell me how you feel,
I say I don't feel the same.
But I lied.
Because I didn't think I deserved you.
I'm just a waste of your time.

Go back again,
Eight years ago.
You're waving to me outside the window,
I smile and run out to see you again.

Back into the woods,
To a hut we built ourselves.
We laugh and run until the day comes to an end.

Remember ten years back,
When we first met.
I knew we'd be friends,
Forever until the end.

But now I'm gone 2,000 miles away,
Conversations cut short.
My smile simply fades.

Day in and day out,
You've been there 'til the end.
I want to go home,
Go back to my friend.

Everyday that goes by,
My heart fills with regret.
I should've told you I loved you,
But now it's too late.

Remember our last winter,
Our last day spent together.
Your warm breath on my face,
I'll remember forever.
