Love Poem: Reflections

Reflections

I stare at my reflection in the mirror

The scarring memories flash nearer

My dark eyes

The hidden lies

My brown skin

My ugly sins

My dark brown hair

The ugly stares

My long flat nose

The aching blows

My plump bottom lip

The flashbacks won't slip

Envy in my eyes

The jealousy will only rise

My broken heart

The boy who would start

To turn my frown upside down

To the smile truly worth while

But then one mistake

Was all it did take

To ruin something special

Worth dying

If I didn't love him I'd be lying

But now it's all gone

The happiness that shone

The guilt will embrace

The pain in my face

The scarring memories flash nearer

As I stare at my reflection in the mirror
