Love Poem: Rebirth

Rebirth

Today, I drown.
I reject the person I was and dive deep beneath the depths
and lose my will to breathe,
allowing the salty brine to completely encompass my being.
I baptize.
Remove these stigmas that society and I have placed upon myself
and welcome love with open arms and a clear conscious
while ignoring gender and sexual identification.
I am reborn.
In your eyes I see the image that my child self idolized.
You make me the woman I always aspired to be,
and I rejoice in your name for that simple fact.
I love.
I do so with purity of heart and without restrictions.
My bones rattle from the thundering beat of my heart down to my soul
and I realize I have found solace.
