Puppy Love Vs True Love

Teenagers on the school bus,
holding sweaty hands tight,
we get off at the next stop,
carrying my books home uphill,

Go on first date which is a thrill,
roller skating round till eleven thirty,
walking home to meet the curfew,
kissing me despite my pimples,

Found out it was just infatuation,
saw you in hall with a new girl,
holding hands just like us,
knowing it was just puppy love,

Years later in a book shop,
bumped into a man with a kind face,
found out we were the same age,
with many things in common,

Our first year of marriage we ate a lot of Ramen,
we were poor but had ambitious stamina,
having both blessings and hardships over the years,
mature love endures through the laughter and tears.
