Love Poem: Precious Lights

Precious Lights

The sun had gone to sleep
And all was very quiet outside
No birds chirping could she hear
Not even a bark or a meow
She stepped out for she needed this quiet.
For her heart was heavy with melancholia.

She walked up a hill and sat on a rock
Overlooking the valley where a town rests
Its street lights looking like fine diamonds
Mirroring the ski charged with stars so bright
All she could see were lights of precious jewels,
Diamonds, rubies, emeralds in the streets
Pearls from the illuminated windows of houses.

Sitting upon this rock looking at the view
She realized how blessed she was because she was loved
Even though the hands of time took her love away
She suddenly felt like the richest person on earth
And here she felt like a queen who had thrown her jewels
To the town folks below to share her happiness
He was and would always be the light of her heart.
