Love Poem: Poe's Lenore

Poe's Lenore

Why must death now intercede?
I die a little each day?
He longs to hear me cry and plead
As he takes Lenore away

I offered my soul of my free will
To spare my lovely Lenore
But he will not make my heartbeat still
He hears my voice no more

He taunts me as I watch her breathe
Counting every breath
He makes her suffer while I grieve
She holds the hand of death

She steals my heart as I watch her eyes
Begging for peace to be found
Without a word she finally dies
Death doesn't make a sound

I cursed the day death stole my heart
The day he took Lenore
The day that the light was torn apart
I can't see it anymore
