Love Poem: Pleasant Tornado

Pleasant Tornado

My stomach is a torrent of butterflies.
They toss and turn.
Create a tornado in my gut.
I'm surprised they haven't tore me up.
A butterfly manages to escape followed by another.
One travels to my heart causing it to beat faster.
The other soars through me, causing tingles everywhere.
I move to speak but a third is lodged in my throat.
Words cannot escape.
As I look into his eyes,
I realize I am not alone.
He, too, relishes the feeling,
Soaks up every ounce of the small insects' coaxing.
I smile as we both understand,
We've caught a case of the butterflies.
