Playing the Field

Everything seems different now
yet nothing has really changed,
still the same familiar faces
but the format has been re-arranged.

Once I was your leading man
now just a substitute,
replaced by someone close to me
you once described as cute.

And you think things should carry on
as though everything’s the same,
It seems that changing partners
for you is just a game.

You never give a second thought
to those you cast aside,
no matter how much they’re hurt
or how they feel inside.

Someday you will fall in love
and maybe then you’ll see,
you shouldn’t treat someone who cares
the way you treated me.
