Playing Old Memories...

Heartstrings stretched tightly
Over love’s violin
The bow of memory slides slightly
Stirring you once again

                                 My mind echoes the orchestra
                                 We had once played
Though I try time and again
                                 To forget the charades

Breaths of the clarinet
Songs from your breath
Those melodies I can’t forget
Even after Love’s death

                                 The hours play symphonies
                                 Time after time
                                 Yesterday’s taunt me
                                 With what had been mine.

The blues of the saxophone
Quicken the pace
Of echoes of loneliness
Of thoughts un-erased.

                                  Your smile still plays tricks
And your voice still splays laughter
                                  Our dreams are still mixed
                                  Without a happily ever after.

Your softness is felt upon piano keys
And all your words of love resound.
I can’t help but thumb through these memories
And remember the warmth in the sound.

The past is behind, but love unforgotten
Filling my soul with old dreams
The unending melodies we had begotten
                                  have awakened love’s lost requiems.

and I can't help remembering when...

                                                     Again...

                    and again...
