Planets Falling Faster Than the Rain

It’s been 36 days since you were dethroned
You were the free-standing house, I was the fist that ripped the power line in half
You’re the ouija board to my spirits of the past,
You keep bringing us back!
Spurn the secrets my brain keeps slipping me,
It knows I don’t wanna relive this
Ignoring written warnings in instruction manuals
I’m soundless in my head but I read with your voice
How am I the gun to your head,
When choosing to do nothing is still a choice?
I captured the blinking lights of the antenna tower
But this wasn’t a safe space after all
Close but no cigar!
You’re a marionette!
In light of this vicarious situation,
There is none
At least not in the home where the heart is
I’ve already seen you deindustrialize your mechanics into a level-headed panic
Don’t walk the plank when the planets are falling!
Tape your thank you notes to balloons and hope they reconsider their targets
They might not be set on you but mine are, but the only threat I could ever be is prepping early for surgery
when your anatomy is too far
Close but no cigar!
It’s been 36 days since you were dethroned
Forgetting something?
I saw what you left in the arcane cut out in the bible in the drawer
Don’t lie to me that this is a second bite at the cherry
Maybe I picked up on more than you thought
So don’t lie and say you weren’t waiting for me to pick yours
God already shook his head and left through the dirty hotel door
Close but no cigar!
He swallowed the ocean and spit it out into your forest
Not only will your eyes never meet the end of it,
But it knows as well as I, that you’re not used to “up close and personal”
You’re more surrounded by oxygen than me
You might be filling your lungs but you could be breathing something else instead
Fake it ‘till you make it
And by the end, it’ll just look like you had dexterity wrapped around your fingertips
But I couldn’t bear to see you so confound and cajoled
With your hollowed out trees as an escape hatch
So eager to point a finger
But it was Smokey who lit the match
And he threw it with a smile that implied “do as I say, not as I do”
Beautifully innocent, or brutally naive?
Well you won’t find a scattered map within these leaves
God swallowed the sea and left you to absorb it hastily
Like the sucker you are and always will be
You’re the ouija board to all my cringe worthy choices of words
I don’t wanna relive this
Stop bringing them forth!
It’s been 36 days since you were dethroned
They say home is where the heart is
But I’m the fist that maimed the power lines sourcing your current
You told me “sorry” but you never stopped
You keep doing the very thing that made you lose me in the first place
You spoke the magic “sorry” but the intention never changed
Use your brain and forge a doctor’s note to properly sedate all this rage
And your energy was so off, I might have to sage
This is so typical
It’s the same thing every time
Even the clocks broke themselves
Who I am to expect bare minimum when all you’ve ever given was below the line
Maybe I’ll decrease your dose to one ego boost a month,
And call it an eye for an eye;
A light scratch for a scar
Close but no cigar!
