Love Poem: Picnic For Two

Picnic For Two

In a field of clover and buttercup
A romantic picnic for two laid out
Eye on her watch as her heart swells with doubt
So worried he’ll work late and stand her up

Any time but not tonight would be forgivable
As she can barely contain herself should she explode
Hours of planning this escapade from their abode
The mounting anticipation is quite unbearable

And here he is, the darling, right on cue
Just in time for the rain to catch them by surprise
Who cares! When she gets to look into his eyes
And let him know how much she loves him

Getting drenched but nothing dilutes their joy
That newlywed feeling is overpowering
He reads her mind, she can’t hide a single thing
Life will change forever… the baby’s going to be a boy
