Love Poem: Passed Over

Passed Over

I wish you could see me for who I am,
and not cut me off like water at a dam.
There is more to me than what meets the eye,
but no one sees that and will give me a try.

When we went out on a date,
I couldn't offer much, so you said it was getting late.
I can render more than most can give,
I can be myself and show you what its like to live.

I can offer trivial things,
sorry, I can't buy you diamond rings.
One thing I don't do is take my time for granted,
I live each moment, as if it were enchanted.

It hurt when you quit on me that fast,
but I'm going to leave it in the past.
One day you will see what you passed on,
and you will know that I am as true as the dawn.
