Love Poem: Overrule

Overrule

few things are ever quite what they seem
say what's really on your mind
can't seem to focus on the true picture
have to read between the lines
i have to except the changes
there are too many lines too often
and i'm trying to make sense of something
but i think i have forgotten
there are times when words lose all meaning
and they're just hanging in the air
i watch your impulse, impossible to predict
i'm useless,trapped and you don't care
too much time and energy is being wasted
on some stupid, pointless debate
i need a damn good reason to be here
is it you or me i hate?
what have i got to do for a quiet life?
your disputes need not exist
you bluff your way with the few tricks you know
your'e talking with your fists
i have my own source of security
i like to slip away and hide
your voice lingers, a constant drone
but in who can i confide?
if you were to try and tell me i'd try and understand
you say there's a switch in your head
but i'm on the recieving end
and i'll soon end up dead
in an instance of your physical force
an intensity of somekind
you distort the sense of meaning
you intend to overawe my mind
what is this role that you play?
to sabotage myself-esteem
for your character lacks respect
and has fractured my only dream
my pleasant thoughts are contaminated
it's you that's made them impure
each word from your mouth polluted
bitter to the core
you have no desire or feeling
there's a numbness in your heart
i'm sorry that i cannot help you
because you've driven us both apart
