Love Poem: Over

Over

This is all so sudden,
winds of change advanced
scudding clouds, soon
their pre-eminence ruled
my horizon.

And, I thought, but
I love you, surely
you can see that;
a moment ago, I
held you.

You were there, close by,
my arms wrapped
your very substance,
now left hugging the cool
distant ghost.

Haunting my misfire,
my perplexed endeavour,
chambers of my heart
dry channelled ardour, vacated
passion's seat.

I miss you at once,
and later, and always,
indeed, and forever;
no restoration now
it's over.

With skill, my tears concealed,
my pain interred adept
in covert crucibles,
sparing the beauty of your eyes my
offending hurt…
