Love Poem: Outside the Walls

Outside the Walls

The world’s walls have crashed in on me
I have barely survived their torture
They envisioned me in one vision
But I had other plans for my short life
The walls tell me that I can’t venture
Beyond the norm…but I have left that
I have traveled onwards to greater paths
I have gained wisdom, more than ever
More than what the walls ever knew of
I have wondrous feelings that were never
In focus before, now are prevalent and true
I’ll never listen to these obscuring walls
They don’t do anything but try to capture
My essence within its confines, where
I happen to live, but I don’t keep myself
Restricted to the walls lame rules
I have a full life outside my harboring
Walls…I dictate their existence, if they
Want to live with me these walls must
Listen to my heart’s whims and desires
The wall doesn’t hold me, I hold the walls
The world around me is my life, not my
Walls of painful illusions, I keep reality
It my forefront, truth holds me firm
With love, an affection outside life’s walls
