Love Poem: Outside the City

Outside the City

Outside the city where the pomegranates grow,
'neath the shade, near a stream, where cool waters flow,
lived a man and his dog all alone with their dreams
of bounty and beauty and bones so it seems.

They lived off the land and the wonders of God,
walking roads paved with promise only nature had trod,
finding wealth and beauty every step of the way,
knowing reason and purpose to kneel and to pray.

Their place in this world is for them plain to see,
in the shade by the stream it was certain to be.
Could this love for each other be the bounty they know,
found outside the city where the pomegranates grow?

'Neath the shade, near a stream, where cool waters flow,
Outside the city where the pomegranates grow.
