Love Poem: Only You

Only You

When the walls close in
The room grows smaller
the weight of the world
Becomes overbearing
When another stab is taken
At everything I am
When it seems my efforts
At doing what’s right
When it becomes harder
To wake in the morning
When a true smile
Can’t find my face
When sound of laughter
Rarely escapes my throat
When I look around
Alone in No Man’s Land
When my chest aches
From pain I sustain
When I want to bury myself
Under protection of covers
When I fight the tears
Because I hate they’re there
I only know of one thing
You are there fighting
Right by my side
You push back the walls
So I’m not squeezed in
You relieve the weight
Baring down on me
You dress the wound
Of the stab in my side
Sleep comes when you’re there
Waking up is much easier
You find that smile
And place it on my face
When I don’t want to laugh
The sound fills the room
When I look behind me
There you firmly stand
You want nothing more
Than to make the ache fade
You pull back the covers
To crawl in with me
So you can wipe away
The tears streaming down
To hold me right then
To heal my heart
To be everything I need
To make everything okay
So you can see me smile
So you can hear me laugh
So I no longer cry
So I no longer ache
Your words
Your embrace
Your touch
Your heart
It takes only You
To make it all go away
