Love Poem: Only One Thing

Only One Thing

The Christmas
Illuminations are up already
It's almost time
The holidays are here
Baking gingerbread men
Topped with icing
Smiles and
Jolly
Jelly bean buttons
Decorating the tree
Golds and reds a
Glow
Always held the berry decorations
As ruby red bouquets
Pulling out
The holiday CDs
Glorified by the
Carol of the Bells
Always listened to
Mariah
This time of year
Every year
Never asked Saint Nick for
Anything
Other than
Books
Barbie dolls
Toys
But now I hear her
Hurts so bad
Hurts so good
In the brilliant lights
Down the streets
Took my breath away
Walking in the cold frisky winds
Along the river
Lined with sparkles
Shining in the reflections
A river of stars
I look at the
Gorgeous
Christmas tree
And
There certainly is
Only one thing I want
But I know
He can't bring me my
Gift
This year
It may not even be next year
So near
Yet so far
Out of my reach
Expecting
Nothing under the tree
This year
Santa definitely can't
Grant my wish
This Christmas
Maybe next year
I'll be singing
Wham!
This time of year
Next year
