One more peg
to quench my thirst,
thirst of a desert
nearer to sea
so close to it
yet so far.
One more peg
to forget the pain,
pain of my heart
which I once
offered to you
but you refused.
One more peg
to end this poem,
a poem of love,
love that is lost,
lost in time
never to come.
