Once There Were Flames

When feeling bored and alone, thoughts of love mingle with memories and overwhelm your lonely heart. To love and be loved is what it means to be human. Love tantalizes you with intimate imagery, then seduces you with the nectar of desire, and you fall under its spell. Like the innocence of a child enamored with the beauty of a dream; you are a slave to your emotions. Betrayal shakes the foundations of logic, causing an inward migration to the safety of your thoughts; where you remove yourself from reality and meekly surrender to your feelings. The absence of love fosters feelings of emptiness and isolation; and like the tin man craving to hear the beat of his heart, you are left with the sound of silence. And the embers of love doused by time continue to smolder as they consume your heart leaving only ash, where once there were flames.
