Love Poem: On Water and Wing

On Water and Wing

Cob swan and I have met here many times,
As heaven's hem is melting pink and peach,
A waxing gibbous moon now peeks and climbs,
Its timid cheeks soft-blushing like the reach.

My dipping oars, with rhythm, cut the lake,
While swan divides the silence, just behind,
To wend the wondrous ribbons of my wake,
And weave them to this covenant we bind.

We two are old in more than but our years,
Yet always yearn the romance of our youth,
So here we share our travels and our tears,
To hope for warmer days and sweeter truth.

As swan, upon the breath of Autumn, flies,
Last call for lonely hearts ... and empty skies.
