On a Lonely Night

On a lonely night you're the one I think about
You're who I'm talking to when I pour this ink out
I think about you on a lonely night knowing we can't repair it
I want us to grow slowly, but you're ready for kids and marriage

I'm not ready for that yet so we had to go our separate ways
I'm hurting right now, but I know there will be better days
We can say it wasn't, but I guess it was meant to end like this
A person was never in love if they mend really quick

You're no longer in my life, but I wish you were
Right now I'd love nothing more than a kiss from her
But you're not coming back, so I'll write this instead of texting you
I'll move on in my own time, but right now I'm having trouble forgetting you

You were a great girl, the type most men would cherish
I just wasn't ready for Children and marriage
I guess I've still got some growing up to do, but at least I'm honest
Everything you want, I really hope you manage to find it

On a lonely night you're the one I think about
You're who I'm talking to when I pour this ink out
I think about you on a lonely night knowing we can't repair it
I wanted us to grow slowly, but you're ready for kids and marriage
