Old Blooms Will Slowly Fade - For Contest

Old Blooms Will Slowly Fade

Old blooms will slowly fade but never die
at the edge of darkness’s waning light
for love will warm them always with its sigh
deny the stinging truth of flowered lie
caress them in memoried folds of night.
Old blooms will slowly fade but never die
resurrected in hearts that still defy
sad coldness of the moment they felt blight
for love will warm them always with its sigh
exhale the passioned tears lovers can’t cry
breathe into them the thrill of scents first sight.
Old blooms will slowly fade but never die
hearts echoing prayers without reply
bask in love’s distant dreams of wingless flight
for love will warm them always with its sigh
color again loves cheeks in blushing shy
slow trace once more the face of blooms delight.
Old blooms will slowly fade but never die
for love will warm them always with its sigh.
