Love Poem: Of Human Bondage

Of Human Bondage

The ties that bind of lace and leather,
Straps and steel and stormy weather,
Knots and nails, impale and tether
Souls in love and lingerie.
Days on fire, nights of passion,
Parallels of sex and fashion,
Blindfold faith met raw compassion
Bonding us eternally.

Through the howl of mean affliction,
Alcohol and drug addiction,
Limelight triumphed, surged conviction,
Slapped the agony aside.
In the ashes tides were turning,
Savage beauty fresh and burning,
Lust and love intense, discerning
Arms thrown open wide.

Dropped the curse of introspection,
Some sadistic self-selection,
You have left and your rejection
Gouged my heart in two.
Beneath the bitter moon I'm crying,
Wracked with hurt as if I'm dying,
Hell bent angels weep, denying
My true love for you.

Children aching, saddened, shaking,
Innocents who's hearts are breaking,
Unbeknown of what is making
Life an open sore.
Of human bondage, once united,
Love lies bleeding, lost and blighted,
And I must suffer unrequited
'Till you come home once more.
