Love Poem: Nothing For the Pain

Nothing For the Pain

Your words hurt like the kiss of a bee sting,
covering my face with a blanket of tears
Said I wasn’t man enough to be your king,
that I didn’t know how to shift your gears

You told me that your river moves real fast,
and you don’t have the patience to wait for me
Said your love was like riding a rocket blast,
and for amusement you let me hop on free

Never was told, after the rush came the drain
When your motor went cold, our love took a tailspin
Hard was the crash, fell into a forest of rain
Didn’t eject quick enough, pain started kicking in

I pleaded in vain for you not to leave this way,
you laughed at me with pure utter disdain
Reminding me what you said on our first day:
Pleasure you give, got nothing for the pain
