Love Poem: Not Yet, My Love

Not Yet, My Love

When I am not within your reach
do you say my name out loud?
Does it escape your lips ending in breathless sighs?
Would goosebumps rise on my bare skin
from the look of desire, I'd find in your eyes?

Don't hesitate at the crossroads we've reached.
It's far too late now to take another detour.
Run with me to the edge of that cliff
and don't bother thinking about 'what if?'
Take my hand and jump into the shadows
of the deep abyss we've been digging
ever since we shared our first sensuous kiss.

If there is pain, it will hold sweet agony
and only end when the rhythmic beat
of my heart slows for a night of rest.
When the breath you stole from me
returns with some semblance of normalcy.

That will be the moment you whisper, "I love you"
and my reply will be given with a flirtatious smile...
"Not yet, my love, not yet, but you will.
There is so much more for us to feel."
