Love Poem: Not Sleeping

Not Sleeping

I travel the higways
Just to get away
I love sleeping in my truck
Anywhere I can stay

I love my music
Puts my mind at ease
I can't stay awake at night though
I sleep when I please

Heading back home
From a trip to my favorite lake
Nightmares right behind me
Oh for heavens sake

I didn't have the strength to keep driving,
Then attempt to go by his house
I feel like traps with cheese are set everywhere and
I'm the mouse

Eleven years of silence
I was building my way to the top
Like a drug addict getting a fix
He calls and my world stops

I know what love is
I know he only knows hate
Till death do us part
He kills in my sleeping state

I'll try to nap now
Please don't let me sleep
May the Lord protect my soul
And my heart is for him to keep
