Not of Blood But Fierce

Tightly holding to one thin branch like sister oranges
wonderfully joined for affections to have their own vision
rolling with each other’s best interest as a moving tyre
life is a rock to one, the other gives a mattress
when snakes threaten the second, the first clears the grass
so genuine is this bond that both intents wear uniforms
beautifully solidify into a sweet chocolate
two wheels of the bicycle they roll
riding with the pedal donated by life
love has nourished their souls with one breast
growing old to defy the bond of blood and gene.
