Love Poem: Not Flowers

Not Flowers

I still remember the way you looked on the beach

Wind blowing in your face

The moon casting its brightened rays upon you

You looked so beautiful

I wish I could have stayed there on that beach forever

But, the sun would have risen on our peaceful night

And with it would have brought the hordes of tourists

Beach towels in hand

So I’m looking forward to every day

Balancing one on top of one another

And then summed into another year

Know that I am and always will be entirely yours

But not flowers, nor chocolates, nor any amount of words can capture this feeling

Of being locked inside our own embrace

Each dreaming of the other, but lost to the rest of the world

And it’s a brand new dawn that shines upon my face

That awakens me to the smell of you

And I know, you mean everything to me

And I still remember how you looked at me

The first time I said, “I love you.”

Oh, how your bright eyes shined

And danced and gleamed

Capturing every bit of light

Refracting every inch of my being

‘Cause somehow I know

You really mean the meaning

Behind those words:

“….I love you...”

So I’m looking for these words to say

But none come to my tongue

Because you are my only love in life

So know that I am and always will be entirely yours

But not flowers, nor chocolates, nor any amount of words can capture this feeling

Writing this is like a long maze

So I’ll leave with a, “farewell”

And a, “I will see you soon.”

Because I’ll always remember the way you looked

That night out on the beach,

That night under the moon
